WASTE DISPOSAL MANAGEMENT CASE HISTORIES

TSI's team of technical and regulatory professionals assists clients in determining the proper waste classification based on federal and state regulations. Upon proper classification of the waste, TSI provides clients with costs for various disposal options applicable to the specific waste stream (e.g., recycling, fuels substitution, incineration, landfill). The client then has the ability to select the preferred disposal option after considering cost and liability issues.

Project 1
LOCATION:Bronx, NY
PROJECT DATE:January, 1993 to December, 1994
CLIENT:Dexter Chemical Company, Inc.

BACKGROUND: Dexter Chemical required disposal of over 800 drums of hazardous and non-hazardous waste over the course of one year. Many of the waste streams were outdated or off-specification chemicals. A significant portion of the drummed waste was more than 30 years old.

ACTION TAKEN: TSI assisted Dexter Chemical in classifying the various waste streams and offered Dexter disposal options applicable to each waste stream identified. Waste characterization profiles were completed by TSI for Dexter Chemical's signature. Representative samples were obtained and submitted along with the waste characterization profiles to obtain disposal facility approval. Hazardous and non-hazardous waste manifests were prepared for Dexter's signature. All waste was transported to their respective disposal facilities.

Project 2
LOCATION:Smyrna, DE
PROJECT DATE:April, 1994 to May, 1994
CLIENT:Clark Equipment Company, Inc.

BACKGROUND: Clark Equipment required disposal of 47 drums of investigative waste from the Metal Masters Site in Smyrna, DE.

ACTION TAKEN: TSI inspected 55 drums for integrity and conformity to the waste profile on record at the disposal facility. Liquids were removed from the drummed waste and allowed to be discharged to the POTW. The solids were consolidated into 47 drums. All drums were labeled for shipment to the disposal facility.

Project 3
LOCATION:Lodi, NJ
PROJECT DATE:October, 1993 to November, 1993
CLIENT:Felician College

BACKGROUND: Felician College required lab packing of various chemicals for disposal from their chemistry & physics laboratories.

ACTION TAKEN: Chemicals were inventoried and any compatible chemicals were consolidated. TSI prepared the waste characterization profile for the client's signature to gain waste approval acceptance. Upon receipt of the disposal facility acceptance, the chemicals were packaged by TSI personnel and transported to the facility.
