BIOREMEDIATION SOLVENTS TESTED AND PROVEN TO REMOVE CONTAMINANTS FROM SOIL AND WATER. Terra Systems (TSI)experience indicates that site remediation costs for remediation technologies are generally consistent with the cost metrics, which are discussed in Quinton et al's 1997 paper entitled “A method to compare groundwater cleanup technologies”. In that paper, the authors predict costs (on a net present cost basis) for Natural Attenuation to be 9% and Accelerated Anaerobic Bioremediation to be 13% of a Pump-and-Treat System, i.e. a savings of 91% and 87% respectively. There are basically three different techniques for in situ biological transformation of chlorinated contaminants: Natural Attenuation; Passive Accelerated Anaerobic Bioremediation; and Accelerated Anaerobic Bioremediation. Depending on site conditions, economics, and the site owner's goals, one or more of these techniques can be used at the site. Read more...Rationale for Biological Approach. TSI’s family of SRS® Slow Release Emulsified Vegetable Oil Substrates are patented engineered products for the reductive dechlorination of chlorinated solvents or any anaerobically degradable substance. The substrate package is a low viscosity liquid that contains a combination of slow and fast release electron donors and nutrients. Its viscosity, once diluted, is similar to that of milk which translates into a significantly larger dispersion pattern than other products. One injection will typically enhance biological activity for up to 3 to 5 years. Our family of SRS® emulsified vegetable oil substrates allow the PM to choose the right product for their needs and reduces the likelihood of “trying to fit a square peg into a round hole”. · SRS®-SD small droplet emulsified vegetable oil substrate (EVO) for formations where the radius of influence is critical · SRS®-FR large droplet emulsified vegetable oil substrate (EVO) for fractured rock formations and barrier systems where retention in the formation is critical · SRS®-Metals emulsified vegetable oil substrate (EVO) for the conversion and precipitation of Cr6+ to Cr3+ · SRS®-Buffered emulsified vegetable oil substrate (EVO) for very low pH aquifers · SRS®-Custom is a custom emulsified vegetable oil substrate (EVO) blend that you specify of our small droplet SRS®-SD and large droplet SRS®-FR. You specify the recipe.
TSI
DC Dehalococcoides ethenogenes Bioaugmentation Culture®
is an
enriched bacteria culture that contains >1 x 1010
Dehalococcoides cells/L for bioaugmentation. It can be used
at sites where bacteria capable of complete reductive dechlorination
of tetrachloroethene (PCE) or trichloroethene (TCE) are not present,
found in
low numbers, or where
there is a need to decrease the remediation time frame. Microbubbler is an inexpensive oxygen generation and delivery system that reduces the cost of dissolved oxygen to below $0.40 per pound. Depending on site conditions, the typical oxygen requirement for biodegradation of petroleum hydrocarbons is 2 to 3 pounds. The cost of alternative sources of oxygen such as solid peroxygens can be extremely high in comparison. Laboratory Treatability Studies for the evaluation of enhanced anaerobic bioremediation of chlorinated solvents, in situ chemical oxidation, enhanced aerobic bioremediation of petroleum contaminants, and monitored natural attenuation. |
Terra Systems, Inc. is one of the most experienced companies in conducting treatability studies having conducted well over 100 studies to evaluate monitored natural attenuation of organic contaminants, enhanced aerobic bioremediation of petroleum contaminants, and enhanced anaerobic bioremediation of chlorinated solvents. TSI also has extensive experience conducting treatability studies for in-situ chemical oxidation. Visit the TSI Services link for more... |
