Core Competencies

Research and Product Development

Terra Systems scientists have been developing in situ bioremediation technology since the 1980’s. Our roots go back to Richard Raymond, Sr. who received the first patent, U.S. Patent No. 3,846,290 for in situ bioremediation of petroleum hydrocarbons in the 1970’s while at Sun Oil Company. Today, led by President Richard Raymond, Jr., Terra Systems offers proven anaerobic and aerobic in situ bioremediation products and unsurpassed technical support. Terra Systems focuses on customer’s day-to-day problems so we invest heavily in Research & Development working with clients to develop products to solve real technical issues

US and Japan Manufacturing

Terra Systems owns and operates a manufacturing plant in Claymont, Delaware right on the I-95N/S and near the I-76W corridor and also manufactures for the Japanese market in Nagoya, Japan.

US Production Staff

Terra Systems owns and operates a manufacturing plant in Claymont, Delaware and has invested in a full-time production staff to help meet the sometimes demanding production and delivery requirements of our clients and to maintain tight quality control over our products.

Customer Driven EVO Formulations

Terra Systems Research and Treatability Lab is adjacent to manufacturing, which allows us to develop formulation hypothesis, formulate them in the lab and test them in manufacturing. The development cycle typically begins when a client approaches us with a site where traditional carbon substrates have not worked effectively. This can be due to low pH, high groundwater flow-rates, high concentrations of competing electron acceptors or other technical challenges

Quality Control Lab on the Manufacturing Floor

Terra Systems owns and operates a manufacturing plant in Claymont, Delaware, which has a quality control lab on the shop floor. Our full time manufacturing team is a key differentiator between Terra Systems and other U.S. suppliers.

Treatability Study Laboratory

Terra Systems has conducted over 250 treatability studies and is one of the most experienced treatability laboratories. Typical treatability studies and lab services include, In Situ Anaerobic Bioremediation Microcosm Studies of Chlorinated Solvents, In Situ Chemical Oxidation Studies, Column Studies for Bioremediation, pH Buffering, In Situ Aerobic Bioremediation Studies of Petroleum, Monitored Natural Attenuation Studies of Chlorinated Solvents and/or Petroleum Hydrocarbons, Petroleum Hydrocarbon Utilizer Counts, Total Heterotrophic Bacteria Plate Counts, Inorganic Nutrient Additions, Oxygen Sources from Sparged Oxygen, Slow Release Oxygen Compounds, or Hydrogen Peroxide, and pH Control

Pre and Post Sales Support

Terra Systems’ pre and post sales support helps ensure that our clients are using the best carbon substrate and loading for their site.
It begins with a free site evaluation by Terra Systems technical staff led by Dr. Mike Lee, one of the emulsified vegetable oil substrate patent holders. We begin with the ESTCP Substrate Estimating Tool and the data you provide to calculate the proper carbon loading using our patented SRS® family of emulsified vegetable oil substrates (EVO) or our sodium or potassium lactate substrates”.

Sustainability

Terra Systems holds an industry and product leadership position in sustainable remediation. We are one of the original founders of the Sustainable Remediation Forum (SURF). We have calculated the carbon footprint of its’ patented SRS®family of products and audited by an independent third party, Carbon Neutral and purchase carbon offsets for our product such that the product arrives at the job site with a zero carbon footprint. Our  patented Family of SRS® emulsified vegetable oil substrates is certified under the USDA Biopreferred Program as a 98% biobased product and we source our raw materials and other products from local sources where possible.
